Niwa series by Steven Sczepanik.
The Niwa series is set of four collages that explore the animistic qualities and the vital forces of our natural world and is represented by all the main elements: water, wind, earth, and fire. Each collage displays pieces of cut up photographs that form together, creating symbolic shapes. The compiled photographs are images personally taken of all the elements I have encountered during this project. The final shapes that are formed to symbolize tranquility, purity and the imperfect beauty of our natural world. These imperfections can also be found in the pieces themselves. The entire work is installed on wooden panels, which emphasizes one of many organic textures that we use in our daily lives.
